The sting operations represent a change of direction by TABC Enforcement Agents. This move appears to be in reaction to the Texas Sunset Commission report on the agency citing a lack of "emphasis on public safety" and widespread publicity of a statistic that Texas leads the nation in DWI fatalities. The supposed goal of the TABC is to stop intoxicated persons at the point of origin (the serving establishment), before the person gets behind the wheel.

Although the goal of reducing DWI fatalities in Texas is commendable, the methods employed by the TABC should be scrutinized. The purpose of this blog is to identify establishments (permittee/licensees) that have been affected by such sting operations and to promote communication on this very important subject.
